So, this is the post that I started when we were still in the first half of the week. I didn’t want to rewrite it to change things and add, because I like how it was, so, here goes!
Luigi just got back from the dentist… No kissing. lol. I also think his dentist used latex gloves because my face is TINGLY after our first kiss attempt.
We’re headed out to his vacation house in a few hours, our train is leaving. I get to ride a real life train! Really we’ve been riding trains all over Paris the past week, so it’ll probably be the same. We’re in first class though so it should be a great time.
What have we been doing? *big breath* EVERYTHING. The first day we hit Monet’s Gardens in Giverny with Luigi’s mom and sister. His sister left for LA the day after, she’s starting “real life,” so she was slightly nervous. That night we watched some hilarious home videos and such.
I think I’m going to go through everything super fast now. Heh. Day two Luigi’s mom dropped us off at Versailles before she left for the vacation house. Yeah, we had like six days to ourselves. WAH!!
We hit the gardens first, and then the castle later. I saw the Eiffel Tower on the way back home at the train station. I tried nasty French cheeses that night… Bleh. Not a fan. lol.
Day three was Musee d’Orsay, where I saw my favorite Renoir painting. We ate in the museum and then went to the Tuileries gardens. The Tour de France was going on that day, so roads were blocked off and we had to walk pretty much the length of the Louvre to find the next open one. We had slushies! And saw the rollerbladers at a square where they apparently always go. Don’t ask me why I didn’t get pictures of that…
Day four we went to the Louvre. All day. Saw everything. Dudes, it is SO HUGE in there… We missed a lot of the second floor objects and went straight for the paintings. We were there for like five hours walking. The best part would have to be the Da Vinci paintings. I think it’s hilarious how everyone crowds around the Mona Lisa (overrated?) when the rest of his paintings are THE BEST. Whatevs. A lot of the Greek sculptures were missing, so that sucked. Afterward we did the whole Champs-Elysées (went to McDonald’s hahaha) and saw the Arc de Triomphe. Then we took the train to La Defense and watched the sunset under the Grande Arche. BIG DAY that day… We got home and had dinner with Luigi’s friend and talked music.
THEN day five we went to the Eiffel Tower and climbed the buttload of stairs. We had sammitches on the first floor and champagne on the top. SO MUCH KISSING!!!
That’s when we ran out of time for blogging. lol. Before going up the Eiffel Tower though we rode a merry-go-round and had some badass cotton candy. The rest of that day we hit Place Pigale and saw the Moulin Rouge. It’s a very *ahem* interesting street. lol. From there we walked up to Sacré-Coeur and walked through. There were no pictures inside but it was a lot more of a “church” atmosphere than Notre Dame the next day, so I would have felt bad taking pictures anyway. Kind of encroaching on people’s spiritual needs or something. After that we sat out on the gardens in front and walked back to the sex shops. lol.
Day six we got a really late start and then went to Notre Dame. We climbed to the top and took pictures of the gargoyles and the bell that is rung on very special occasions (the other ones rang several times). It was way hot on the way up but way awesome. When we got back down we went through the cathedral and took pictures of the stained glass. We had lunch in the park next door and fed the birds. By that time we were waiting around for the picnic that night and so we sat in a different park. Luigi went to get drinks and came back with raisin bread - deelicious. The crust was hard so we ended up throwing that by the bushes for the birds, but then guess what? We saw RATATOUILLE! Hehe. There were three mice fighting over the crust so I took pics of that.
The best part of the day and maybe the whole Paris trip was our picnic that night with Luigi’s family friends. We picnicked on the Seine in front of Notre Dame, it was very gorgeous. I had a lot of wine and a lot of fun. It was a very unique experience and I dunno - it was just awesome! Maybe partly from the wine. lol. Then of course the next day we headed to Luigi’s vacation house, but that’s a blog for another day.
I’m still figuring out HOW to upload photos, in the midst of packing to move into my apartment, taking care of the house in my mom’s absence, and watering the garden(s). So, I’m busy!
